Why Did My Power Bill Nearly Triple?
I got my power bill the other day. I couldn’t believe that my wife, daughter, and I used nearly triple the electricity from the previous month. Not only that, we used more electricity in April than any other month in the year–including the dreaded month of December when the furnace is constantly burning (and the electric fan is always on).
So I called Idaho Power to see if there was some mistake. Guess what, they told me that they replaced my “old” meter with a “new” meter in March. Apparently, this meter is more “accurate.” How? I don’t know. But it seems fishy to me.
If Idaho Power is going to measure nearly triple the electricity use without notification, does that mean that they should lower the rate by a third? Just asking.
